TAKET

Our Story

In the spring of 2001, a small group of engineers and audio enthusiasts gathered in a modest workshop on the outskirts of Fujisawa, Japan. With little more than soldering irons, raw materials, and an unwavering passion for sound, they set out to challenge the limits of what headphones and speakers could deliver. The company they founded—TAKET—took its name from the Japanese word for “bamboo,” symbolizing both the natural purity of sound they sought to capture and the resilience of their pioneering spirit.

The Early Years (2001–2005)

  • 2001: Launch of the first experimental Super-Tweeter prototype, capable of reproducing frequencies beyond the human hearing range.

  • 2002: Publication of our inaugural white paper on tactile audio transmission in the Journal of Applied Acoustics, garnering international attention.

  • 2004: Opening of our first dedicated R&D lab, complete with an anechoic chamber and materials analysis suite.

Expansion & Breakthroughs (2006–2012)

  • 2007: Introduction of the Pure-Series headphone cable, featuring hand-stranded oxygen-free copper and pioneering low-loss connectors.

  • 2009: Filing of our first patent for the TAT-Driver system—an innovation that combines traditional dynamic drivers with micro‐vibration transducers to engage both ear and skin.

  • 2011: First overseas exhibition at the Munich High End show, where our prototypes drew long queues of curious audiophiles.

Global Recognition (2013–2018)

  • 2013: TAKET’s Super-Tweeter Mark I receives “Best New Component” at the Tokyo Audio Show.

  • 2015: Collaboration with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra to develop concert-grade reference headphones.

  • 2017: Launch of TAKET’s online forum, fostering a community of tens of thousands of music professionals and hobbyists worldwide.

  • 2018: Opening of our second facility in Osaka, dedicated to small-batch handcrafted assembly and final tuning.

Today & Tomorrow (2019–Present)

Over two decades later, TAKET remains a tight-knit collective of visionaries—acousticians, mechanical engineers, industrial designers, and dedicated craftsmen—totaling just over one hundred team members. Our headquarters in Fujisawa houses dual anechoic chambers, advanced prototyping tools, and a collaborative studio where ideas evolve from sketches to sonic reality.

  • Research & Innovation: We continue to publish peer-reviewed studies on tactile sound and high-frequency acoustics, partnering with leading universities in Tokyo and abroad.

  • Product Milestones: From the Super-Tweeter Mark II (2020) to our latest TAT-Driver Elite edition (2024), each release embodies five years of iterative refinement and real-world feedback.

  • Community Engagement: Annual “TAKET Sound Labs” workshops invite musicians and engineers into our labs for co-creation sessions, while our online “Listening Lounge” features expert-led deep listens and virtual demos.

  • Sustainability Initiatives: We’ve reduced packaging waste by 35% since 2022, implemented energy-efficient manufacturing processes, and launched a take-back program for recycling end-of-life products.

Why Our Story Matters

At TAKET, every achievement is rooted in our founding belief: that true fidelity isn’t just heard—it’s felt. Our products bridge the gap between performer and listener, capturing the full emotional spectrum of music. As we look to the future, we remain committed to pushing technical boundaries, deepening our connections with the global audio community, and honoring the craft that inspired us from the very beginning.
